WHY DON’T MANY SCIENTISTS BELIEVE IN GOD?

WHY DON’T MANY SCIENTISTS BELIEVE IN GOD?

Bob Oliver

Many scientists state that they cannot believe in God because they have no way of testing scientifically for Him. They can only believe in that for which they can test scientifically. In that God, and His nature cannot be discovered through their scientific testing process, they choose not to believe in Him.

That is interesting in that they all believe in dark matter and dark energy. One article explains it in this manner. “Dark matter produces an attractive force (gravity), while dark energy produces a repulsive force (antigravity). Together, they make up 96 percent of the universe—and we can’t see either. Astronomers know dark matter exists because visible matter doesn’t have enough gravitational muster to hold galaxies together.”

In essence, they do not know what it is. They believe they can see its effect, but they can’t prove it through the scientific method. That is exactly what God says about Himself. “For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse.” (Romans 1:20).  Common sense tells us that in the universe is perfectly designed, there must be a designer. The universe is so precise we can accurately predict where astrological bodies will be not only future, but where they were in the past. That is how we can send spacecraft great distances and know exactly when they will arrive at their destination, though everything is moving.

It is the same. We can see the effects of God in the universe as we can realize there is some force holding the universe for which they cannot account. But God actually answers this question for them.

In Hebrews 1:3 we have this reading, “He is the radiance of the glory of God and the exact imprint of his nature, and he upholds the universe by the word of his power. There is your “invisible force” explained. The universe was created by our Lord. John 1:3 tells us that “All things were made through him, and without him was not anything made that was made.”

Jesus created the universe and He controls the universe. If they choose not to believe this, they are condemned by their own ignorance. Psalm 14:1 “The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God.”
